The Da Vinci Code

Hey y'all, it's Madelyn. It's been a while since we've officially read something. I recently finished Bridget Jones's Diary and Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reasons (v. good review coming).

Today, I am starting The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown. I finished the prologue and the first chapter, and I am intrigued already. Chop chop, yall!

Madelyn's Review
[★]

Wow. Where to begin? J'aime utiliser mes trois ans de français au lycée pour faire un peu de traduction. (I liked using my three years of high school French to do a little translating.) Reading about Le Louvre only made me want to go more. It sounds amazing. Also, all of the European art and history mixed in with the symbolism, etymology, and mythology is truly fascinating.

Religiously, I do not agree with a lot of it, but I just reminded myself that it's fiction and moved on. I do not agree with the term "gooseflesh," either; everyone knows that "goosebumps" is better.

So, five stars for The Da Vinci Code. I love the complexity of this book. I mentally prepared myself for a cliffhanger, but everything comes together at the end. And, there are so many surprises. You never know who you can trust...

[Updated August 15, 2017 - I read this book in two days.]
